Sleep Training Basics
Baby
Sleep training your baby can be a daunting task. To make it easier, start by establishing a consistent bedtime routine such as taking a warm bath, reading a book, putting on pajamas, brushing teeth, and saying goodnight. When it's time for bed, put your baby in the crib when they are drowsy, but still awake. If your baby cries, check to make sure they are safe and comfortable, offer a pacifier or a gentle pat or rub, and then leave the room. Monitor your baby's sleep by checking the time they fall asleep, the length of time they sleep, and any nighttime awakenings. Make adjustments as needed to the bedtime routine, sleep environment, and response to cries. With patience and consistency, sleep training can be successful.
